EN E-000355/2017 Answer given by Mr Vella on behalf of the Commission (10.3.2017) As stated in reply to Written Question E-2866/06 and Petition 760/2006, the Commission examined the projects mentioned by the Honourable Member and their potential effects on Natura 2000 sites. That investigation confirmed that the relevant impact assessment procedures had been conducted, and it was not possible to identify any infringement of EU legislation. The Commission is not aware of any new element that would contradict that assessment. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme for Andalusia, implemented under the shared management rules, co-financed in the period 2007-2013 several investments in the logistic zone (Área Logística de la Bahía de Algeciras - Sector El Fresno). Around EUR 3.5 million were used from ERDF for electricity infrastructure and improving the access and security in the area. The funds have been allocated by the Junta of Andalusia, and all the projects selected had to comply with the national and EU law, including environmental requirements.
