Timetable and fulfilment of objectives set for the Mediterranean rail corridor in Spain

EN E-002570/2017 Answer given by Ms Bulc on behalf of the Commission (22.6.2017) The Commission is aware of delays in the implementation of some projects along the Mediterranean Corridor in Spain and assist the Spanish authorities in the implementation of EU co-funded projects as much as possible. The responsibility of programming the works to be carried out lies with the Spanish authorities. At this point in time, the Commission has no reason to believe that the implementation of the Mediterranean corridor will not be completed by the year 2030, as required by Regulation (EU) 1315/2013. According to the information from the Spanish authorities, the section Murcia-Almería is in various stages of planning and implementation, with some civil works already completed. Studies are on-going for the new railway line between Almería and Granada.
